In 2005, the CEOs and Board Chairs of more than 30 business, academic, community development and technology organizations collaborated to create an economic development strategy for the Sacramento Region. One of the most important outcomes of this project, known as Partnership for Prosperity, was a broad regional support for diversifying the Region’s economy by focusing on our Clean Energy Technology cluster.
At the time, the clean tech sector had an existing company base, proven academic and research excellence, innovative local utilities and the strength of existing partnerships. Implementation efforts attracted over 100 volunteer leaders, and ultimately led to the formation of the Green Capital Alliance in 2008. Since then, the Green Capital Alliance steering committee has met monthly to share information and engage in collaborative priority setting around growing the region’s clean technology cluster.
