Why Sacramento Leads:

IntellectInfluenceInnovation

California is the most progressive state when it comes to clean energy. In the Sacramento Region, we are fortunate to have the Capitol in our backyard. We have legislators and key government agencies for neighbors – the California Energy Commission, California Air Resources Board, and California Environmental Protection Agency are all headquartered in Sacramento.

Local government support is crucial to the success of our Region:

  • 12 of the Region’s cities, and 3 of our counties have completed emissions inventories and/or created a Climate Action Plan.
  • The Sacramento Area Regional Council of Governments (SACOG) adopted a Regional Blueprint in 2004, establishing a bold vision for smart regional growth through 2050.
  • The Sacramento Region has consistently ranked among top applicants for state and federal grants, partly due to a proven track record for successful collaboration. As of late 2010, nearly $300 million in funding is currently being implemented regionally around the clean energy economy.

Our elected officials support clean tech growth, and are engaged in GCA-related activities.
